Aristotle TYMPAS

Aristotle Tympas is a tenured faculty member (associate professor) at the Department of History and Philosophy of Science, School of Science, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. He has received interdisciplinary training in engineering (Diploma in Chemical Engineering, Aristotelio University, Greece, 1989), the social sciences (Msc in Technology and Science Policy, Georgia Institute of Technology, US, 1995) and the humanities (PhD in History, Technology, Society, Georgia Institute of Technology, US, 2001). He currently serves as member of the management committee of the Tensions of Europe (ToE) network of historians of technology in Europe (chair for a two-year tenure, starting in the fall of 2017), as vice-president of research of the European Inter-University Association on Society, Science and Technology that offers the International Master’s Program on European Society, Science and Technology (ESST), and as president of the Scientific Council of the National Documentation Center (three-year tenure, starting in the fall of 2017).
