Jean Foyer is a Research Fellow at the CNRS, ISCC. He holds a PhD in sociology from the Institut des hautes études de l’Amérique latine (Université Paris 3 Sorbonne Nouvelle) on biotechnology controversies in Mexico (GMO and bioprospecting). His main areas of interest are global environmental governance, socio-technical controversies, agro-ecology and indigenous and environmental mobilizations. He will contribute a case study to WP7.

This pitch outlines how case study n°7.5 deals with the inclusion of traditional knowledge alongside science expertise in the climate regime and, more specifically, in monitoring techniques. Key quote: ’Our case study will analyse the Indigenous Peoples’ Bio Cultural Climate Change Assessment Initiative (IPCCA) that has emerged as an innovative response, bringing together indigenous knowledge and science in a process which links bio cultural realities with complex global climatic processes.’
