Dr. Tobias Helms is an archaeologist specialized in the archaeology of South West Asia. He is employed at the Institute of Ancient Studies at the University of Mainz, where he has also served as a Research Associate in the Department of Near Eastern Archeology.

He completed a postdoc in the Graduate College GRK 1878 "Archeology of Pre-Modern Economic Areas" (Bonn). His research priorities include: archeology of the later prehistoric and early historical periods, economic and social archeology, conflict archeology, archeology in the Kurdish Autonomous Region.

Tobias is a case study author in InsSciDE’s heritage work package and will be a teacher in Warsaw Science Diplomacy School 2021.
